Viability Testing
What is a viability DNA test
Viability testing is a process by which our lab will determine if a usable amount of DNA is present in an unusual sample that you send us. For a viability test, you would send us a DNA sample of the alleged father who may be missing or deceased. This sample could be a hair with the root, a toothbrush, or even preserved blood from the alleged father. Then, we would analyze the sample and determine if a sufficient amount of DNA is present for other DNA testing you may need
When is it used?
Viability testing is often used when the alleged father is missing or unavailable. Specifically, viability testing can confirm if DNA is present in an unusual sample to use in a paternity test. In this case, you can determine whether or not an alleged father is the biological father of your child.
How long does it take?
You can typically expect your viability test results within 9 days of our lab receiving your sample.
How much does it cost?
The cost of viability test depends on the type of sample you submit to Advanced DNA. Call our DNA Test Consultants to learn more.
