Grandparentage Testing
What is a grandparent test?
Grandparentage testing is a DNA test that allows you to determine the relationship between a child and his or her possible grandparents. It is based on the fact that a child inherits some of his or her grandparents’ DNA through the parents.
When is it used?
Often, grandparent DNA testing is used in paternity cases where samples from the alleged father are not available. Advanced DNA can test DNA samples from the alleged father’s biological parents to determine if the child is their grandchild.
How long does it take?
Grandparentage testing typically takes 5 working days to complete, if the child’s mother participates. Without her participation, it may take up to 9 working days, because additional testing and analysis will be needed.
How much does it cost?
The cost of a grandparentage test with the mother is $395. Without the mother, the fee is $495. This all-inclusive fee includes the sample collection kit that you can use to easily and safely collect DNA samples in the privacy of your home.
